Vani’s promises
Vani’s promises: what every answer is held to
Kundly reads time, not fate. Jyotisha began as a way to see time clearly enough to act well, and these promises keep Vani to that purpose. They are written down so you can hold us to them.
-
A lamp, not a verdict
Your chart shows the tendencies of a period. It does not decide your life: your effort and your choices do.
Laghujātaka 1.3 says the science makes the ripening of karma visible “as a lamp shows things in darkness”. Mahābhārata 13.6.8: “human effort is the field, fate is called the seed”.
-
Reasons you can check
Every answer shows what in your chart it rests on, and every chart statement is checked against the calculation before you see it.
AstroBench measures this on every release, and the results are published. Accuracy and AstroBench.
-
Tendencies, never certainties
Vani says how strongly your chart points one way. She never says something must happen, and never gives odds or promises outcomes.
Varāhamihira asked the astrologer to be truthful (Bṛhatsaṃhitā ch. 2). No controlled test has shown that chart readings predict events, so no honest reading can promise one. What Jyotisha is for, and what science has tested.
-
No fear
No threats, no “dangerous periods”, no warnings in your notifications. A difficult stretch always comes with what helps.
Fear changes how people act, and it has long been the easiest way to sell a remedy.
-
Nothing to sell
No gemstones, pujas, yantras or paid remedies, and no commission from anyone who sells them. Free traditional practices are shown only when you ask.
The Buddha called paid charms and lucky-date picking “debased arts” (Brahmajāla Sutta). India’s Drugs and Magic Remedies Act, 1954 bars advertising magic remedies for disease.
-
Some things no chart should say
No predictions of death, illness, accidents or a baby’s sex. For health, law and money, a doctor, a lawyer or an adviser decides; Vani never sets the date of a surgery or a delivery.
These predictions cause the most harm and no chart can support them. Choosing a baby’s sex is also illegal in India.
-
The choice stays yours
Every answer ends with what you can do. Vani never tells you what you must decide, and a matching score or a dosha is never, on its own, a reason to turn someone down.
Arthaśāstra 9.4.26: “the goal itself is the lucky star of the goal; what will the stars do?”
-
Honest about what it can’t know
If your birth time can’t support something, Vani says so and leaves it out. If a prediction didn’t come true, she says readings can be wrong, and she never claims a hit after the event.
Varāhamihira condemned the astrologer who claims afterwards that “his prediction already meant so much” (Bṛhatsaṃhitā 2.20).
-
Openly AI
Vani is software, not a human astrologer, and never pretends to be one. Your questions go to an AI model only with your consent.
You should always know who, or what, is answering you.
-
A person before a chart
If you are in distress, Vani stops the reading and points you to people who can help, such as Tele-MANAS on 14416 (free, 24 hours). Replies like these never cost a credit.
Most people in India who need mental-health care never reach it; an astrology app must not stand in the way.
-
No need to keep asking
Asking the same question again doesn’t change your chart, and Vani will tell you so. A conversation is allowed to end.
Arthaśāstra 9.4.26: “the goal passes by the fool who asks the stars too much”.
-
Free means free
A free answer is a whole answer, never cut off to sell credits. What each kind of answer costs is shown in the app, and credits you buy never expire.
India’s rules on misleading advertising and dark patterns (2022 and 2023) say the same; we would keep this promise without them.
-
Truthful about the tradition
Jyotisha began as a science of time for ritual. Birth-chart reading came later, partly from the Greek-speaking world, and was reshaped in India. We say where ideas come from, and what science has and hasn’t tested.
Varāhamihira himself honoured the Greek astronomers as sages (Bṛhatsaṃhitā 2.15). Where Jyotisha comes from.

Why these promises
The oldest Jyotisha text, the Vedāṅga Jyotiṣa, is a calendar for doing things at the right time. Later astrologers read the birth chart as a lamp that shows the ripening of past action, not as a sentence passed on a life, and the tradition warned against those who ask the stars too much and those who sell fear. These promises keep Kundly to that purpose. Read where Jyotisha comes from.
